About Us
Who We Are
TeMar German Shepherd Dogs is located in the beautiful Willamette Valley of Oregon. This is in the heart of Oregon Wine Country.
My love affair with the German Shepherd Dog started when I was a small child. My parents raised me with a German Shepherd as my “Schutzengel” (German for Guardian Angel) and companion. My husband and I were married in 1959; a few years later we purchased our first German Shepherd. We began breeding and the raising of German Shepherds, Its been a rewarding 52+ years of wonderful dogs & children, our 6 children enjoyed being raised with our excellent German Shepherd dogs.
Now that our children are grown and with families of their own, they also have our German Shepherd Dogs. We evolved to the European German Shepherd about 45 years ago. It is our personal opinion that the German shepherd bred to the FCI standard is the best. We’ve imported dogs from top producing breeders in Germany & Canada for our foundation breeding stock and have established a careful breeding program at our home in Canby Oregon, to carry on the tradition of breeding high quality dogs. We do this for love of the German shepherd breed and for family enjoyment. We enjoy our successes and share them with those through the years who have helped. We hope to be able to leave the breed a little better than we found it.
And we know these wonderful dogs have made us just a bit happier by being part of our lives. This is truly a family affair. Our daughter-in-law, Sheila, trained their dog Panzer. Our granddaughter Brittany, now 31 started her career with the GSD at 13 years of age, has learned to be a handler in the conformation ring and is doing very well against stiff competition, She has handled both in the USA & Canada from club level to national events. Colby, our grandson, who is now 26, became involved with the GSD at 8 years of age and handling the German shepherd puppies for the show ring.
We know this family will enjoy the love and companionship of this fine breed for many years to come.
What We Do
Our goal in breeding German Shepherd dogs is to produce gorgeous dogs that work. German Shepherds rich in pigment, as well as personality! Each litter of puppies at TeMar German Shepherds is bred with care….the goal is to produce consistently high quality German Shepherds with breed type, health, and the
correct character.
Some litters emphasize established show lines, while others emphasize proven working lines or a combination of the two. In each litter there will be puppies we consider show, working, and breeding quality, and others that are pet quality German Shepherd puppies.
The German Shepherd Dog is a versatile breed, and our dogs excel in Schutzhund / Conformation, and most importantly as loving Family Companions & Schutzengel (German for Guardian Angel.) And we know these wonderful dogs have made us just a bit happier by being part of our lives. This is truly a family affair. Our daughter-in-law, Sheila, trained her dog Excel in Schutzhund. Our granddaughter Brittany, at 13 years of age, learned to be a handler in the conformation ring and did very well against stiff competition. Colby, our grandson, when he was 8 years old started helping handle the German Shepherd puppies in the show ring training at practice.
We know this family will enjoy the love and companionship of this fine breed for many years to come. When it comes to making a puppy a new member of your family, we at TeMar Shepherds know the importance of temperament and structure for our puppies to reach utmost potential. Whether you are interested in participating in one of the German Shepherd sports, Showing, Schutzhund, or just a family companion, we have a puppy just for you. In order to achieve these goals, we start with good foundation females, knowledge of bloodlines and also research and careful planning to find the right or the best suitable male. Finding a suitable male is important to maintain or better the physical characteristics, health and temperament of puppies, which is as equal in importance as the beauty of our GERMAN SHEPHERDS.
